Mayan wisdom, from the hive to your table
Xunáan Kab means “royal lady bee” in the Mayan language. It is what the Maya called Melipona beecheii, a native stingless bee they kept in hollow logs called jobones and whose honey they treasured.
Today we keep that tradition alive in Yucatán. A Melipona hive makes very little honey each year, so every harvest is small, hand-crafted and limited. Raw, natural and pure honey with no additives or preservatives.

What makes this honey special
A rare, raw honey treasured by the Maya for centuries — and the souvenir from the Riviera Maya that is actually worth taking home.

A Melipona hive makes only about 1 to 2 liters of honey a year — a fraction of a regular beehive. Every harvest is small and limited.
Never heated or industrially filtered, so it keeps the natural enzymes, aromas and character of raw honey.
Light, tangy and slightly citrusy, with floral notes from the blossoms of the Yucatán jungle. Prized by chefs and luxury spas.
Our pollen version adds pollen from the same hive, which contains protein and amino acids, for a richer, bolder flavor.
The Maya kept the Xunáan Kab for centuries, honored Ah Muzen Cab, the god of bees, and treasured its honey in ceremonies and kitchens.
Melipona colonies in Yucatán have declined sharply. Choosing Melipona honey helps keep this native bee and its keepers' tradition alive.
Our honey is a food and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. Not for use in the eyes. Do not give honey to infants under 12 months.

It is the honey of the Xunáan Kab (Melipona beecheii), a stingless bee native to the Yucatán Peninsula that the Maya have kept for centuries — its name means “royal lady bee”. A hive makes only about 1 to 2 liters a year, so every harvest is small, limited and highly prized.
It is light, tangy and slightly citrusy, with floral notes. It naturally has more moisture than regular honey, so it is thinner — that is a trait of this bee, not a sign that it has been watered down. The version with bee pollen has a richer, bolder flavor.
A Melipona hive makes a tiny fraction of the honey of a regular beehive, and it is harvested by hand from small colonies. That rarity — and the care it takes — is why it costs more.
Yes. We hand-deliver in Cancún, Isla Mujeres, Costa Mujeres, Playa del Carmen, Puerto Aventuras, Akumal and Tulum — to your hotel lobby or front desk, your Airbnb or your home. Choose “Hand delivery” and your area in the cart: it costs $10 USD in Cancún and Costa Mujeres, $15 USD in Playa del Carmen and $20 USD in Puerto Aventuras, Akumal, Tulum and Isla Mujeres — free on orders of $60 USD or more. We message you on WhatsApp to set the day and time. Please let the front desk know a delivery is coming (some all-inclusive resorts have rules for outside deliveries).
Yes. For airport security honey counts as a liquid. The 30 ml (1 fl oz) dropper and the 45 ml (1.5 fl oz) jars fit in your carry-on liquids bag (containers of 3.4 oz / 100 ml or less). The 180 ml (6 fl oz) jars must go in your checked luggage.
Honey is generally admissible into the U.S. for personal use, and Canada allows up to 20 kg per person. In both countries you must declare it as food on your customs form or kiosk. For the version with bee pollen, declare it too — the final decision is always the inspector's.
Real Melipona honey is thin, tangy and citrusy, and it can turn slightly fizzy over time — that is natural fermentation. Buy from a known producer: honey sold at roadside stands is often diluted.
Keep it in a cool place, away from sunlight and tightly closed. Once opened, keep it in the refrigerator. Do not give honey to babies under 12 months.
Our honey is a food. Please do not put it — or any honey — in your eyes: the U.S. FDA has warned against honey “eye drops”. Enjoy it by the spoonful, in tea or on fruit.
